We recently came across this article on “moneycontrol.com” “Got an old 2 rupee coin? You can earn Rs 5 lakh online.” . Heck yeah everyone wants to! Right? On searching a little more we found few more articles on same topic published on big websites and news channels like news18, India.com, Zee news etc. These articles tell you step by step how to sell 2rupees coin on quikr for 5lakhs.
I m sure you have the same question as us. Is this true, can I really get 5 lakhs in return of my old 2 rupee coin? We decided to check if it works 😉 .
How To Sell 2 rupees coin for 5lakhs?
We followed the instructions on above mentioned sites and listed the coin by clicking a picture on “Quikr”. To our surprise we got a reply from somebody named Hunter John and introduced himself as a coin collector from ‘US of A’. He wanted our whatsapp number to take the deal forward and the rest of chat continues on whatsapp chat.
Asks for the price and we say each coin 3lakhs, we didn’t wanted to be greedy you see! And he immediately agrees for it, 3lakhs for each and 6lakhs for two coins. Everything about this deal screamed “scam”. But we wanted to take it further to see where it goes.
Mr. John then aks us to create an account in netteller.com and that he will transfer the entire money to us there and get the coins picked up through local courier in our city.
We went ahead and created a net teller account and he then asks us to deposit 5200inr to increase the limit of netteller account. To this we reply we do not have any money and we won’t be able to deposit anything to the netteller account. As soon as we sent this message, he stopped responding.
We were assured we were going to be scammed by Mr.John.
Conclusion :
We tried searching on the internet but couldn’t find any credible leads or answers to whether this whole thing actually works and if anyone has ever received any such huge sum in return of mere a 2 rupee coin? We couldn’t find any such answers.
